Muhlenberg School of Nursing Offers a Variety of Learning Options for Nursing Students

Muhlenberg School of Nursing is located in Plainfield, New Jersey. The school encourages those individuals who are interested in a nursing career to apply. Older students over the age of 40 are common at Muhlenberg, and many students attend school on a part-time basis. Ample student housing is provided.

If you would like to enroll in the registered nursing program, there are three tracks available. The first track, Generic, requires a GED or high school diploma and can be taken on a full or part-time basis. Day and evening classes are offered as well. The first semester of the Generic Track includes English Composition, Anatomy and Physiology I, Chemistry-Health Sciences, Introduction to Nursing Concepts and Mathematics for Pharmacology. The second semester will provide instruction on General Psychology, Nursing I, and Anatomy and Physiology II. In the third semester, students will learn Child Psychology, Nursing II and Microbiology. In semester four, studies are English Composition II, Nursing III and Principles of Sociology. The fifth semester instructs on Nursing IV and Humanities Elective.

The Accelerated Track consists of the above listed courses and takes place on a fulltime basis during the day. A Baccalaureate Degree in any field is required for enrollment.

The LPN to RN Track consists of Anatomy and Physiology I and II, English Composition I and II, General Psychology, Chemistry-Health Services, Nursing II, III and IV, Child Psychology, Principles of Sociology, Microbiology, Humanities Elective and LPN Transition Course. This program will assist the transition from LPN to RN and takes place over four weeks, during the day and on a fulltime basis. Nursing III and IV also provide the opportunity to take evening classes.

With all three tracks, a diploma in nursing will be obtained from the JFK Snyder School of Nursing, and an Associate of Science Degree will be obtained from Union County College. Credits can be transferred to Bachelor of Science in nursing programs.

With the education that you will receive through Muhlenberg School of Nursing, you will have valuable skills that will help you to acquire employment in the nursing profession. You will also have the opportunity to use your credits to achieve a higher education, if you so desire. You may even want to branch out into other aspects of the healthcare field with specific courses that are offered through Muhlenberg. These courses include Radiography, Nuclear Medicine Technology, Diagnostic Medical Sonography and Radiation Therapy Technology.
